Food Preservation Training-09.07.2016 to 15.07.2016

A training programme on “Food preservation” was organized by the Department of Home science with Food Biotechnology for the III – UG students from 09/07/2016 to 15/07/2016. Mr. Mariappan, Food preservation Advisor, Madurai trained the students in preservation techniques.  Students underwent “Hands on” experience on preserving the perishable foods (Fruits and vegetables) by making products like jam, jelly, squash, crush, pickles etc. It also motivated the students to practice the method at commercial level and thereby enabling them to transform as entrepreneurs in the near future.

The training programme enabled the students to have additional skill development and equipped them with productive knowledge. The students gained self-confidence and were motivated to start their own business. On the whole, the programme was a great success in not only enabling the students to groom as entrepreneurs, but also to have an in depth knowledge on preserving foods and to make the best use of the available resources effectively.
